Holy Name and Pioneer Valley Project

“I Need A Few Good Women and Men to Join Me!”

Wednesday, June 5th at the Social Center from 6:30-7:30p.m.
The Pioneer Valley Project will hold its annual Issues Assembly on June 25th.  Prior to the Issues Assembly, we should meet to discuss what we believe should be our priorities and issue(s) that Holy Name will support as members of PVP.  The question this year is “Where do we see need/poverty in our neighborhoods?”  In the past Holy Name Parish has supported PVP in the following areas: Library Hours, Support of our Public Schools, Immigration, the Casino and its funding, Human Trafficking, lack of employment in Western Massachusetts and Drug Courts.  Will you join me to share your thoughts and opinions on Wednesday, June 5th, 6:30-7:30p.m. at the Social Center?  Thank you very much.

Pro-Life Meeting on June 10th

Everyone is invited and encouraged to attend an informational night”  to be held here at Holy Name Church on Monday, June 10th from 7-8p.m. for the following legislative bill on abortions:

Massachusetts Citizens for Life: Anti-Life Provisions in S.120.  It is critical that we stand in solidarity against this bill, which would expand & promote abortion, removing all safety nets & waiting periods.
S.1209 will endanger our women, our infants, and our children by: making it legal to kill or let die a baby born alive on an abortion table; re-allocate your tax dollars & Healthy Start Funds to abortion providers eliminate parental consent & judicial supervision for 13 or 14 year old girls taken to abortion clinics, leaving them prey to sex predators and trafficking; eliminate the regulation that women undergoing the grisly 3-day late term abortion procedure be treated in a hospital.  What can you do?  Please sign up for updates & action alerts at our friends MassCitizensForLife.org/JOIN.  Call and write your legislator, telling them you oppose this grisly bill, which both sides of the abortion debate believe is extreme. You can easily look up your local legislator by going to MassCitizensForLife.Org/find-my-legislator-ma.  Questions? Call MCFL (617) 242-4199 ext: #221.

Volunteer Needed for Community Garden

The Community garden at the corner of Alderman & Ventura Street is in need of a volunteer to oversee this annual spring/summer effort.  The plots are generous in size and available for growing vegetable or flower gardens. Gardening tools and hoses for watering are provided by the garden.  Each gardener pays a small yearly fee that covers the cost of water used by the garden, and they are responsible for taking care of their individual plots.  For more information, please call the rectory.
