Mr. Roy Dado, President of Cathedral High School, has announced the Mr. John Miller will soon become Principal of Cathedral High School. Mr. Miller is presently the Assistant Principal at the Southwick-Tolland regional High School. We congratulate Mr. Miller on his appointment and welcome him to Cathedral High School. We also thank Sr. Denise Granger, who had been Principal at Cathedral for the past twelve years, for her dedicated service and Christian leadership for so many students over the years.

Exposition immediately following the 8:15 AM Tuesday Mass...Closing Prayers and Reposition of the Blessed Sacrament are at 5 PM followed by the 5:30 PM St. Jude novena Mass.

 

Thursday, May 20th is Ascension Thursday and is a Holy Day of Obligation. Masses will be at 5:30pm on Wednesday, May 19th and at 6:45am, 8:15am and 7pm on Thursday, May 20th.

 

 

We welcome the Little Sisters of the Poor to our parish. At St. Joseph�s Residence in Enfield, CT, the Sisters offer hospitality and care for 85 needy elderly men and women, as well as seniors who come for the day. They depend greatly on charity to carry on their apostolate to the aged and infirm.

 

The Sisters will be collecting at the exits of the church after the Masses.

 

A Rose is a Rose: Members of the Holy Name Women�s Group will be selling roses after all the Masses the weekend of May 22 & 23. Please support this fundraiser for our Women�s Group and surprise a loved one with a beautiful rose!

 

Holy Name Parish is very pleased to announce that John Vennard of our parish has been selected by the St. Michael�s Guild for the �Bishop�s Circle of Stewards Award�. This prestigious award is made to a select few in our diocese who have demonstrated significant stewardship in their service and support of their parish community. John Vennard has been an integral part of our parish for over twenty years. His service as sacristan, chairperson of the Men�s Club, Eucharistic Minister, Lector, volunteer, homebound visitor, photographer (and probably a hundred other duties!). The Forever Young Club is going on a trip to a Maine Lobster bake on Monday, June 14th. The cost is $55 to be paid in full. There will be sightseeing on the tour. For reservations call Lena at 788-8726 or Florence at 733-3610.

 

The Annual Parish Picnic is Sunday, 6/13.The picnic will begin with an outdoor Mass at 11:30am celebrated by newly ordained Fr. Wayne Biernat; activities, eating and fun will follow throughout the afternoon. There will be face painting, games, a magician and other activities. Tickets are $5 per person or $15 per family. Tickets available May 22nd through June 6th at the exits following all Masses.

 

 

Protecting our children....A presentation sponsored by Holy Name Parish for parents, guardians, caregivers, and teachers will be given at the social center on Thursday, May 27 at 7:00pm. Area counselors, therapists and physicians will be on hand for a panel discussion to help families and those working with children on recognizing the signs of child abuse. Parish Council Nominations!!!!The Holy Name Parish Council is central to the guidance and direction of our parish community.The Council meets monthly in addition to occasional committee meetings. If you know of a parishioner who exemplifies leadership and may have a willingness to serve our community please nominate her/him using the nomination form in the pew.Nominees must be a registered member of the parish.

 

The candidate will be contacted by the Parish Council Nominating Committee to determine if he/she is willing to run.
