DISCIPLINE The goal of Holy Name School is to develop within each child the sense of self-discipline whereby students are afforded an opportunity to strive toward making the principles and values of a Christian life their very own. They will be guided toward a fundamental respect for themselves and for the rights of others. Please be award that sometimes students violate some of the very basic rules of our school. For these students a detention may be issued. Parents will be informed of a student's detention at least 48 hours before it will be served. This will allow parents to arrange for transportation if necessary. We request that parents sign the detention slip immediately and have their child return it the day after it is issued. Your cooperation and support is absolutely essential. Detention will be served at the convenience of the teacher issuing the detention. After four detentions the student and his parents will be required to meet with the principal. For students in grades K-3, the teacher will address lack of self-discipline with the assistance of the principal in the case of serious infractions. For students in grades 4-8 detentions will be issued by the teacher. Some areas of violation may include, but are not limited to the following: § Violating the dress code § Excessive tardiness § Chewing gum § Missing assignments § Being unprepared for class e.g. missing pencils, notebooks, etc. § Disorderly hall behavior |
