DRESS CODE
Boys K-8
Boys K-8 may wear navy blue dress or corduroy slacks, light blue or white
oxford dress shirts or light blue or white polo shirts with no logos. A
plain belt, socks, and shoes are required. Pullover navy blue sweaters with
our school's initials embroidered on the front are permitted. Only Holy
Name of Jesus sweatshirts are permitted. Navy walking shorts purchased at
Blake's are permitted during the months of September, October, May and June.
Girls K-4
Girls K-4 wear the uniform jumper, plain white oxford blouses, or polo
shirts with no logos, navy blue knee socks or navy tights and flat leather
shoes. From November 1st to April 1st uniform slacks may be worn in place
of the jumper. During the months of September, October, May and June,
navy blue walking shorts purchased at Blake's may be worn. During those
same months white ankle socks may be worn. Navy blue sweaters with our
school initial embroidered on the front are permitted and only Holy Name
School sweatshirts are permitted.
Girls 5-8
Girls Grades 5-8 wear the uniform skirt, plain white oxford blouses or
white polo shirts, no logos, navy blue knee socks or navy tights with
sensible shoes. Form November 1st until April 1st uniform slacks purchased
at Blake's may be worn instead of the uniform skirt. Navy blue walking
shorts purchased at Blake's may be worn during the months of September,
October, May and June. During those same months white ankle socks may
also be worn. Navy blue sweaters with our school initials embroidered
on them may be worn for warmth as well as the Holy Name School sweatshirt.
A small shoulder strap purse is allowed.
Physical Education Uniform
The proper physical education uniform may be purchased
at Blake's. Each part of the school uniform carries the Holy Name School
name or logo. Blue is the color of the gym uniform, but those who purchased
gray uniforms may wear them until they are outgrown. Uniforms may be worn
to school on any P.E. day unless there is a Mass. Then, the uniforms are
to be carried to school and changing time will be allowed. Sneakers may
be worn to school during the periods of time when the weather is pleasant.
During the winter months, or inclement weather a second pair of sneakers
must be carried to school in order to preserve the gym floor. This rule
will be strictly enforced and no child will be allowed to participate
in physical education class with wet sneakers.
IMPORTANT please note that Blake's is the exclusive outfitter of our
school uniforms. The entire uniform for both boys and girls is available
there.
PLEASE NOTE: Appearance is important and encourages
the kind of atmosphere in which education is the primary focus of the
school day.
§ Therefore, shirts and blouses are to be tucked in at all times
§ Fad dying of hair is not allowed.
§ Low heeled shoes should be worn by all students, but because children
often outgrown their shoes by the end of the year, sneakers may be worn
everyday beginning May 1st.
§ Modest earrings, and only chains bearing religious medals or crosses
and watches may be worn for jewelry.
§ Girls in grades 5-8 may wear finger nail polish.
§ Girls in grades 7&8 may wear lightly applied makeup.
§ No clogs or sandals o be worn at any time.
§ Boys are to have their hair no longer than to the bottom of their
collars.
DRESS DOWN DAYS On occasion non-uniform days are
allowed. Appropriate clothing for non-uniform day would consist of the
following:
§ Sneakers, but no sandals or clogs may be worn
§ T-Shirts may be worn but not if they have inappropriate language
or promote advertising, especially of alcoholic beverages.
§ Shorts of modest length may be worn; running shorts, bike shorts,
and dancing tights may not be worn.
§ Jeans may be worn but they may not be tight, ripped, razor slashed
or torn.
