Abuse Crisis in the Catholic Church Listening Sessions

 

Springfield Bishop Mitchell Rozanski invites the Catholic community in western Massachusetts to participate in one of four regional listening/dialogue sessions addressing the sex abuse crisis in the Catholic Church. The sessions will allow the faithful to make their concerns known, offer observations, and ask questions of the bishop and diocesan officials. The sessions are scheduled for: Wednesday, February 6, at Mary Mother of Hope Church, Springfield, from 7-8:30 p.m.; Sunday, February 10, at St. Joseph Church, Pittsfield, from 6-7:30 p.m.; Monday, March 18, at St. Mary Church, Westfield, from 7-8:30 p.m.; and Sunday, March 24 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, Northampton from 6-7:30 p.m.

St. Michael’s Academy Fundraiser and Open House

On January 19th & 20th, students from St. Michael’s Academy will be present at Mass to briefly share the benefits of a Catholic education. They will discuss some of their experiences and explain why they attend SMA. After Mass, they will be selling Calendar Raffles for $10 each. All proceeds support the programs of St. Michael’s Academy. The winners will be announced at the St. Michael’s Academy Pasta Supper on Saturday, February 2, 2019.

 

St. Michael’s Academy, 153 Eddywood Street in Springfield, will hold an Open House and Curriculum Fair on Sunday, January 27th from noon to 2 p.m. There will be a presentation promptly at noon for prospective students and their families and tours will be available. The Curriculum Fair will be open until 2 p.m. providing the opportunity to visit classrooms and have additional questions answered. Children’s Choir Practice Time Change

We are changing practice night” to see if more of you can make it. The first practice of the New Year will be on Monday, Jan. 14th at 6:30PM. We invite all kids up to 12 years of age to join us. We will also practice on Monday Jan. 21st, and sing at the 10:30 Mass on Jan. 27th. Come one, come all!!!!

Please join us in congratulating none other than our own Fr. Joyce, who was named Parade Marshal for the 2019 St. Patrick’s Day Parade! He will be honored at the 2019 Colleen Coronation Ball and Awards Ceremony on Saturday, January 26th at the Sheraton Springfield Monarch Place Hotel. Enjoy a three course dinner to include appetizers, entre, dessert and coffee. There will be a cash bar, and cocktails are at 5:30p.m. Music by Jimmy McArdle. Each year, the MICAH (Ministry in Community Action Honorees) Awards Dinner provides the membership of PVP the opportunity to express its appreciation for the contributions of an individual from each organization who exemplifies the words of the prophet Micah:

 

“He has shown you what is good; And what does the Lord want of you but to do justice and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God?” (Micah 6:8)
